Assessment and Unit Planning Backwards Planning; Understanding by Design Strategies:
Brainstorm with students at the beginning of a unit.
Decide (with the students) what they should know/be able to do, etc.
List assessments (with details, when possible) and approximate dates (subject to change)
Brainstorm activities or projects that might be part of assessment (elicit ideas from students and interject your own)
List components and cultural concepts that are integral to the unit (i.e. grammatical topics, vocabulary, etc. giving students citations of resources, pages in textbooks, handouts, etc.)
